This elegant, art-filled, stunningly beautiful home in El Centro has never been offered for rental before. One of the loveliest and most inviting properties in San Miguel, it is located on a quiet residential street, just 4 blocks from the Jardin, the tree-covered square in the center of Colonial San Miguel. With spectacular views of the mountains and sunsets to the west from its terrace, Casa Bethryn is an easy walk to San Miguel's art galleries, restaurants, shops, art institutes, churches and other historic places.

The home itself consists of three separate two-story structures, all connected by arched, covered walkways. The entry corridor to the property runs from the front gate on the street more than sixty feet through a vine-covered, mosaic-tiled walkway that opens onto the first of two lush courtyards in the property. A large mesquite tree shades the front courtyard, with a stand of bamboo, plants and flowers along one wall and a cascading fountain, bougainvillea and palm trees set along the other walls.

The moment you step through the front door of the house, you know you have entered a beautifully designed and magical place. You are standing in a quiet, arched-ceiling entry hall, with high-back wooden chairs set on both sides of the room, four on each side. The room is filled with paintings and sculpture, with a large wrought iron chandelier overhead and columns to your right, opening to the Sala Principal, or main Living Room, with a large carerra marble fireplace at its opposite end. On your left is a powder room and in front of you are large iron and glass doors that open onto a covered walkway and a dark blue tiled pool, with water from a large wall fountain at one end cascading into the pool.

The master bedroom suite, with a king bed, mosaic-tiled master bathroom, walk-in closet and a comfortable sitting area and fireplace, is on the second floor of the third building. It has views to the west, looks out onto the second floor terrace, and has two sets of French doors (one on either side of the fireplace) that open onto small balconies overlooking the rear courtyard with its two-story vine-covered rock wall and center fountain, surrounded by orange and palm trees and flowers.

The guest wing of the house, located on the second floor of the first building, consists of two guest bedrooms, each with its own tiled bathroom and fireplace; a sitting room and television area and a charming office, with a computer and telephones, overlooking the front courtyard. One of the bedrooms looks out onto the front courtyard, and the other overlooks the pool and second floor terrace. One bedroom has a queen bed, and the other has twin beds, which can be joined to make a king bed.

The main library, which is on the first floor of the second building, looks out onto the rear courtyard. It is filled with art and has a cozy sitting area and fireplace, a table desk and chair, and approximately 1500 volumes on shelves covering two walls.

The house has a large, modern kitchen and dining room on the main floor of the third building with a "Keeping Room" and fireplace next to the dining area. The outdoor dining area, which overlooks the rear courtyard, is adjacent to the indoor kitchen and keeping room area and has its own fireplace and outdoor grill.
